Privacy Policy
Effective date: 22 October 2026
Kivā is a home decor brand operated by Kiva Interiors, a sole proprietorship in California. We design and make vases and pet bowls, sold at kivainteriors.com. This policy explains what we collect when you visit the site or place an order, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@kivainteriors.com, or by post at Kiva Interiors, PMB 2013, 600 West Broadway, Suite 700, San Diego, CA 92101, United States.
Our website is built and hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace processes data on our behalf and sets some cookies of its own, which is covered below.
Information we collect
When you place an order. Your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, the items you ordered, and the total paid. If you order a personalized pet bowl, we also collect the text you ask us to print, which is normally a pet's name, along with the letter colour you choose. We need that text to make the product.
Payment information. Checkout runs at kivainteriors.com/checkout, but your card details go to Squarespace Payments, our payment processor, not to us. We never see or store full card numbers. We receive confirmation of payment and a record of the card type and last four digits. If you pay with PayPal, Venmo or Klarna, that company handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy.
When you contact us. Whatever you put in your message, including your email address.
When you browse the site. Pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser type.
If you start a checkout and do not finish. We keep the email address you entered and what was in your cart, and send one reminder email a day later. You can ignore it or unsubscribe.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, government ID numbers, date of birth, or any health information.
How we use it
We use what we collect to make and ship what you ordered, including printing the name you supplied on a personalized bowl. To take payment and to issue refunds or replacements under our returns policy. To send you order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to your messages. To understand how the store is used, so we can fix what is broken and make it easier to buy from. And to measure whether our advertising works, and to show ads to people who have visited the site.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use Meta Pixel to show ads to people who have visited this site, which under some state privacy laws is treated as sharing personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can stop that sharing going forward using the cookie controls described below.
We do not share the text you supply for a personalized product with anyone outside the people and services needed to make and deliver it.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are essential: they keep your cart and let you check out. Those are always on, because the store cannot work without them.
The rest are optional, and you choose. When you first visit, a banner asks you to accept all cookies, decline them, or manage your preferences by category. After you have made a choice, a Cookie Preferences link appears at the bottom of every page, and you can change your answer there at any time.
With your consent we use:
Google Analytics 4, to count visits and see which pages people use. When you accept analytics cookies, Google may set cookies that recognise your browser across visits.
Meta Pixel, to measure whether our ads lead to sales and to show ads to people who have visited this site. When you accept advertising cookies, Meta may set cookies and may match your activity to a Meta account. This runs on product pages and on our checkout.
Microsoft Clarity, to see how pages are actually used. With your consent, Clarity records a playback of your visit to this site: pages viewed, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and the size of your screen. It also builds heatmaps showing where visitors click and how far they scroll. Text you type into form fields, including names, addresses, payment details and the custom name on a pet bowl, is masked in your browser and is not recorded. Microsoft may also use what it collects for its own purposes, as described in its privacy statement.
What declining does
If you decline, we do not load analytics or advertising cookies, and the site works normally. Being accurate about the limits of that:
Google Analytics still sends a measurement request even when you decline. No analytics cookie is set, so nothing is stored in your browser to link one page view to the next. That request carries a signal telling Google you have not consented. What Google does with it is governed by Google's own policies, not ours.
Meta Pixel does not send page or purchase events when you decline advertising cookies.
Microsoft Clarity does not load at all when you decline analytics cookies. The script is never added to the page, no session is recorded and no request is sent to Microsoft. If you withdraw consent while browsing, recording stops and the Clarity cookies are cleared.
Declining changes what this site shares from that point on. It does not delete information already collected, and it does not reach back into records Google or Meta already hold.
Declining does not control what those companies do elsewhere. They may still collect information about your activity on other websites, through those websites' own arrangements. To limit that, use your Google ads settings, your Meta ad preferences, or your browser's privacy controls.
Do Not Track, and tracking across other sites
Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for how sites should answer one, and we do not currently change what we collect in response to it. Your cookie choice on this site is what controls collection here.
When you visit this site, third parties can collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites. Google, Meta and Microsoft can do this through the tools described above when you have accepted the relevant cookies.
Who we share it with
We share information with the companies that run the store for us, and with the analytics and advertising partners described above. Each one receives only what it needs for the purpose listed here.
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Squarespace | Everything you enter on the site, including order and contact details | Hosts the site, runs the store, and operates our checkout |
| Squarespace Payments | Card details, order total, billing address | Our payment processor. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link and bank payments |
| Klarna | Order total, and whatever you give Klarna directly | Offered at checkout if you pay in instalments |
| PayPal | Order total and your PayPal or Venmo account details | Offered at checkout if you pay with PayPal or Venmo |
| Page and device information. A cookie identifier only if you accept analytics cookies | Google Analytics 4 | |
| Meta | Pages viewed, add to cart and purchase events, and a cookie identifier, only if you accept advertising cookies | Meta Pixel, for ad measurement and audiences |
| Microsoft | A recording of your visit to this site: pages viewed, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and device type, with form fields masked. A cookie identifier only if you accept analytics cookies | Microsoft Clarity, for session replay and heatmaps |
| Shipping carriers | Name and delivery address | To deliver your order |
Each of these companies handles what it receives under its own privacy policy and sets its own retention periods.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights.
Your choices, and how long we keep things
Cookies. Choose on the banner when you first visit. Afterwards, use the Cookie Preferences link at the bottom of any page to change your answer. Declining does not affect your ability to browse or buy.
Advertising. To stop this site sharing your activity with advertising networks, open Cookie Preferences and turn Advertising off. Your choice is applied on this site as soon as you save it. It does not remove information already collected, and we cannot control how quickly each advertising company acts on information it already holds.
Marketing email. You can opt in to our marketing emails at checkout. Every marketing message carries an unsubscribe link. If you leave items in your cart without checking out, we send one reminder email the following day, which also carries an unsubscribe link. Order confirmations and shipping updates are not marketing and are sent whether or not you subscribe.
Where we ship. We ship within the United States only. Our checkout does not accept addresses in other countries.
If you live in California. California law requires us to tell you how we respond to browser Do Not Track signals, and whether other companies can follow your activity across different websites. Both are answered in the section on cookies above.
Access and deletion. Email contact@kivainteriors.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We aim to respond within 30 days. We handle requests subject to applicable legal requirements and our legitimate recordkeeping needs, which means we may have to keep order, tax and accounting records after a deletion request. If that applies to your request, we will tell you what we kept and why.
How long we keep things. We keep order records, including the name printed on a personalized product, for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and warranty purposes. We do not run an automatic deletion schedule. Analytics and advertising data sit with Google and Meta, who set their own retention periods under their own policies.
Children, and changes to this policy
Kivā is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email contact@kivainteriors.com and we will delete it.
If we change this policy we will update the effective date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will say so on the site.
Questions about this policy go to contact@kivainteriors.com.
